As part of our ongoing fire safety permit process, the Pointe South Board of Directors wants to make residents aware of the following requirements and upcoming activity in the building.
Smoke Alarms in Your Unit
Florida fire code requires every unit to have interconnected smoke alarms — meaning if one alarm goes off, all alarms in the unit sound together. You must have:
• A smoke alarm inside each bedroom
• A smoke alarm outside each sleeping area, within 21 feet of the bedroom door
The fire department will test these alarms during final inspection. If your unit does not meet this requirement, it could delay the building's permit closure. Please check your alarms now and replace any that are missing or not working.
Elevator & Common Area Testing
On Monday, June 1st at 8:00 AM, our fire alarm contractor will be on-site with the elevator company to test the elevator recall system, followed by a full pre-test of all common area fire alarm devices. This is a required step before we can schedule final inspections.
Final Inspections
Final fire inspections will be a multi-day process and will require unit access on Saturdays. We will provide advance notice once dates are confirmed.
What You Need to Do Now
• Verify your unit has working smoke alarms in each bedroom and outside each sleeping area
• Confirm alarms are interconnected (all sound when one is triggered)
• Plan to provide unit access on Saturdays for final inspections (dates to be announced)
Thank you for your cooperation. Questions can be directed to the property manager.
